Sentences 2 and 4 are particularly difficult, because a singular („the sales report“ and „Harry“) directly follows the plural text and such a confrontation disturbs our ears. But these singular nouns are only part of the plural meeting of these sentences. In the second sentence, the complete theme is „the sales report, market analysis and strategic plan“. In the fourth sentence, the theme is „Harry, Sue AND Michael“. 14. Indeterminate pronouns generally accept singular verbs (with a few exceptions). Undetermined pronouns anyone, everyone, someone, no one, nobody are always singular and therefore require singular verbs. These compliance rules do not apply to verbs used in the simple past without help. A third group of indeterminate pronouns adopts either a singular or a plural, depending on the importance of the pronouns in the sentence. Look at them closely.
If we refer to the group as a whole and therefore as a unit, we consider the singular noun. Pay attention to the prepositional sentences placed between the subject and the verb and immediately identify the subject in the expression as the object of a preposition: A preposition object can NEVER be a sentence.
